wldathrt77 Freshman Join Date: Mar 2007 Posts: 1	Yes they work.. you're describing forms of "de ashi barai" and "o'soto geri"They've been taught for 500+ years or so now and we've worked out a lot of the kinks.. they can be used by a novice with the introduction of some power to PUSH your opponent off balance. Or the can be used by an advanced person who's studied the technique and utilizes timing and balance to help the other person fall on their own. Either way.. they are effective and can be extremely effective against someone who's never been brought horizontal in the air before.
