How do you help people who are depressed?

How do you help someone who is depressed? I have a friend in india that is severally depressed, i know he is thinking about trying to kill himself. If I tell someone he may kill me as he is physcotically depressed.

Well I think you have a few options. But surround this person with love as much as you can while you figure out what to do. One, tell a family member anonymously, like his mother. If this doesnt work you should maybe consider getting his family to convince him to see a therapist or doctor, maybe try to medicate him. But this person has a reason to try to kill themselves, try to figure out why and help him get it passed the problem. I think professional care would probably be best though.

How serious does he talk about him killing himself? & how long has he been depressed? If someone is seriously thinking of committing suicide than you should most definitely tell someone. If he means that much to you than it does not matter if he would "kill you," it matters of his safety ...
