Depression is a major issue. 1 in 5 people will suffer from depression at some point in their lives, making it the second most disabling condition (after heart disease). The age of onse for depression is generally around 25 but more and more people are self-diagnosed depressives. Some would say it is a sign of the times, others feel that unhappiness is now being called depression, accounting for the sharp increases in cases over the past 20 years or so.

I don't agree that most teenagers will attempt suicide when depressed, however this can be a serious issue, especially with those in new surroundings (new college/university). I would advise anyone feeling low to contact their university's counselling service, get help!

All the best always
