i don't think you can get federal student aid if you are an illegal alien. i know the FAFSA login is based on social security number.

Maybe you should go back to your homeland, and fill out the correct papers to come to this country legally, and pay taxes like you should.

I also disapprove of illegal immigration, but don't like rudeness either. If you are hispanic contact a rights group at your college. Or the consulate of the country of which you're a citizen. There are La Raza groups that will have this info, and they (or some local variation) are on most campuses in the southwest.Oh yeah, when you get your degree think seriously about returning to your country of origin and helping. I visit Mexico frequently, the good people there deserve a lot more than the criminal politicians and narcotics gangs that currently run the country.

In you particular case, you will need to file the FAFSA *without* getting a PIN number -- that is, you will need to file *on paper.* Oddly enough, although it it possible to successfully file a FAFSA as a non-citizen, it is not possible to apply for a PIN as a non-citizen. (Go figure.)It's important to note that you can only obtain Federal Student Aid if you are one of the following:* a U.S. citizen* a U.S. permanent resident, and the student has an Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-551)* a conditional permanent resident (I-551C)* are an eligible noncitizen with an Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from the U.S. Immigration and naturalization Service showing any one of the following designations "Refugee,""Asylum Granted," Indefinite Parole,""Humanitarian Parole,""or Cuban-Haitian Entrant."If you do not fit into one of those categories, you won't be eligible for federal student aid. It's a little unusual for a school to demand a FAFSA from an ineligible student, but I suppose that they might only want it for the basic income/asset information it contains... I'm assuming they're aware that your FAFSA will come back "rejected" with a note that says something like "Homeland Security did not confirm that you are a citizen." Once this occurs, if your school continues to ask for more information, tell them "I told you I was ineligible for federal aid" and ask what other information you can provide to complete your scholarship application.

On the FAFSA site, look for apply to get PIN # - click in there and apply for your number it will take a few hours to get it and then return to the application site and put in your PIN #.
